Frisco is a family-oriented town that offers affordable and
diverse lodging, shopping and dining options. Tucked against the soaring peaks
of the Ten Mile Range, with Lake Dillon
at its border, there is plenty to do outdoors.
In the winter, Frisco is known for great Nordic skiing, backcountry ski trails
and snowshoeing trails, and dinner sleigh rides.
In the summer, the Frisco
Peninsula draws bicycle riders,
Frisbee golfers, softball teams and hikers. The Frisco Bay Marina offers
motorboat, sailboat, canoe and kayak rentals for a scenic ride around Lake
Dillon. In addition, Frisco offers
a skateboard park and several summer concerts providing entertainment for the
entire family.
Before you set out for a day of hiking or boating, enjoy the views from one of
Frisco's fine communities.
The views from Frisco are in every direction. When jogging or skiing
out by the openspace still undeveloped on the Frisco Penninsula - and gazing
back at the town, the clouds appear as if they might be
fog in a Norwegian small town. But this is Colorado!

FRISCO - To complete town projects - like Peak One parcel affordable housing and development of the Frisco peninsula, councilman Kent Willis wants to serve the town for another four-year term. He's one of three candidates registered for three open council spots, so the Town of Frisco recently canceled its April election in favor of appointments. "I really wanted to see those projects through and get those finished up," Willis said. Willis said he's a big supporter of affordable housing, and the Peak One parcel project "adds a housing segment to the market that we don't have, which is hopefully at the affordable level, so we can maintain families with kids in this town." When Willis moved to Frisco 27 years ago, he said the town was full of families. "It was good to see everyone at school functions and around town," he said. "I want that back, and families can't really afford to live here." Willis, an attorney, raised four

SUMMIT COUNTY - Want to grow your own arugula, broccoli, cauliflower, chives, mint or thyme? This will soon be a reality as the Summit Prevention Alliance is prepping to break ground on three temporary greenhouses with help from the Alpine Earth Center. The simple greenhouses will be 60x14 feet, and they'll be built by volunteers next to the Summit County Community and Senior Center in Frisco. The Alpine Earth Center - a garden, landscaping and green-energy business in Silverthorne - designed the greenhouses and its owner Jon Harrington will be overseeing the construction process. Summit Prevention Alliance staffer Joanna Rybak said she hopes produce grown in the greenhouses will provide fresh and affordable veggies for locals well past the normal growing season. She said the greenhouses will also provide fresh greens for local food banks. The alliance is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles in Summit County, and the greenhou

FRISCO - As the newest member to Frisco's town council, Kim Cancelosi said she's ready to take the plunge. She's one of three candidates registered for three open council spots, so the Town of Frisco recently canceled its April election in favor of appointments. Cancelosi has lived in Frisco full-time since 1995 (after she met her husband Jim at Music on Main), but she started visiting Frisco in 1979 when her parents moved there. She said she's always liked to be active in public service. So when other residents told her she should run for an open council spot, Cancelosi stepped back to measure whether she had the time. "I don't think you can just show up on the two meeting days and think that's all it involves," she said, noting that she believes the council's time commitment to be within her capabilities. Cancelosi, a mother of two boys - Keegan (10) and Lukas (8), is a former attorney who currently works in home fa

As of today, Frisco's election for council members will be canceled. A resolution to approve this was OK'd at Tuesday's town council meeting. There are three candidates to fill three seats, so an election isn't necessary. Though the Town of Dillon also has three candidates to fill three open council seats, its election is not being canceled as there are two mayor candidates - Don Parsons and Ron Holland.
